Local man charged with assault of random children will serve home detention next to a school
A man who attempted to drag two children into his car – who he did not know previously – has been sentenced to home detention in his residence next to a Hamilton school. The 29 year old pulled up next to the kids, engaged them in conversation, and then attempted to pull them into his vehicle. The Judge of the case, Philip Crayton, said “My view of this offending was that it was not prompted or triggered by the children, but by your interest in the children”. While the offender is not allowed to enter areas such as parks and schools, as well as talk to anyone under the age of 16, the area he is to serve out his sentence is concerning to say the least.
McDonald’s and KFC opening across the road from Waikato University
In arguably the biggest news to hit our university in its history, the Ruakura Superhub has announced it will have a Waitomo gas station, McDonald’s, and KFC across the road from College Hall by the end of the year. The Tainui Group Holdings (TGH) project, which has also announced a Kmart as one its many other tenants, will create up to 12,000 jobs once it has finished. Young wannabe Cambridge criminal points weapon at a random person on main street.
A child has been arrested after threatening a person with a BB gun on the main street of Cambridge. While trying to do their best impression of Gucci Mane, he aimed his gun at a complete stranger who believed it was a real firearm. A local police spokesperson said that they were notified at “about 1.30pm on Tuesday of a young male presenting the weapon.” After an hour searching for him, with dog units, they eventually found the boy hiding. Real gangsta’.
