We want you... to write for us in 2023.

This editorial makes no sense

It’s just past midnight and I’m sitting trying to figure out what to write. I’m sure you’ll all find that pertinent. This week has been a bit of a shit one though, if I’m being honest with you all and with myself. Not because I’m going to call for a ‘woe is me’ sadness chant in the hopes of strumming your gentle heart strings, but because it’s getting colder.

As an insight for you all, I’m kind of a hot-headed person. Which is my nice way of saying that I’ve got a horrible temper and I sometimes let my fuse run short. But, that doesn’t make me insufferable. However, add in sub-zero temps and some shitty hot-water heaters and you’ve got a recipe for one impossible dude to be around. As a big boy, I can usually regulate that temp but this past week, I’ve found myself struggling to figure out if the hoodie is on or off. It’s usually on because a cautionary step outside means immediate chill-zone.

Anyway, climate action. We need to try harder right? Because these fluctuating temperatures are giving me hella whiplash. I didn’t like the film, I don’t like the sensation. So here’s what I’m thinking–we all do better. There, I fixed it with Greta Thunberg. Didn’t really seem that hard in the grand scheme of things hun.

I should apologise in advance for the feature, it’s kind of a difficult thing to preface. It’s not problematic but it’s fucking long read. Let me say this, the world can be filled with unsavoury beings, so it’s nice sometimes to sit down and kōrero with those different from us but somehow find a mutual ground where we’re both comfortable. That being said, I don’t recommend any of you follow in my footsteps of going into a Satanist community in the hopes of reaching a common thread between you both. It’s kind of a shit show.

Does this editorial make sense? No, but you know what else doesn’t make sense? Racism and here we are. Be safe this week and know that there’s always someone out there that loves you. Might be me. Might be that one kid in the back row of your Monday lecture. It’s probably them.

See ya for now moles,

Jak
