WSU – Issue 9
Director bio:
Hi, I’m Rana and I am one of the Directors on the WSU Board this year. My goal is to collect ideas and feedback from students for the board. I try to help out as much as I can so you might catch me at the barbie flipping some sausages or setting up a marquee! I am part of the Well Being Committee on the board and as part of that we ensure we’re receiving professional and personal development skills needed to best serve the student body. This is also to upskill and support all board members throughout the year.
I enjoy youth engagement and creating spaces for young ethnic people to upskill themselves. I love helping out and being there, supporting whoever and whenever I can. As you get to know me, you’ll learn that I’m a fun and chill person. The three things that you’ll find me doing, if I am not swamped with mahi, is playing soccer, dancing or on some sort of adventure!
The main thing I hope to achieve this year is to reach out to the Muslim and Ethnic student popoulation and listen to what they would like to see on campus. Hopefully, I can bring their voices to the table and create practical action points that will benefit them.
Club Bio: Student Employees of Waikato University Association
Are you juggling both study and work? Are you wondering where your student co-workers are?
We’ve found that there is a lack of community and conversation among students who are employed by the University. This is why we are creating the Student Employees of Waikato University Association (the name is a work in progress). The intention behind this club is to create a feeling of community among students who are also university staff and to run fun events. It is also a chance for student university staff to be able to communicate with each other about any employment issues that may arise.
If you are interested in becoming a member of this club, please go on our Facebook page (@studentemployeesofwaikatouniveristy) and fill out the Google Form posted on the page. If any of your friends are students and employees of the uni, please let them know about this club.
