Forget Love Island and The Bachelor, this new dating show is far more entertaining! It premiered last week, and involves Kiwi teens/young adults sending their single parents on a dating show. The twist is that they watch every second of their parents dating on the show and are in control of making the right decisions for them. It’s been a week and I’ve already cried a few times. This is the most wholesome and lovingly cringeworthy show I’ve ever watched, and I cannot recommend it more!
Fairy… Fries?
Us Kiwis love a bit of fairy bread, however, across the ditch, things are getting a bit weird with a new food combo in Sydney. A company at the Royal Easter show is selling ‘Gummy Fries’. Although it sounds like a new vape flavour, it’s literally a $20 dish. They are quite literally hot chips with sprinkles and rainbow ‘gummy’ sauce. I was unable to find if they were served hot or cold, but either way, it is extremely odd, and not a trend I think I can get behind.
‘Gingas in the Stings’ – A red haired festival?
Hastings hosted about 100 redheads for the first adaptation of the festival ‘Gingas in the Stings’. The founder, Reverend MacDonald, said “I’ve had a dream for at least 30 years, probably longer, of walking into a cafe where everyone has red hair”. Although quite hilarious, her drive for the festival was that many redheads like herself have had to put up with a lot of teasing and bullying over the years, and it’s quite easy to feel singled out with only 1-2% of the population having red hair. As a redhead myself, I totally would have gone for the giggles- and epic photo ops!
Extra Virgin Coffee?
Starbucks Italy is under some serious heat after releasing a new line of olive oil-infused beverages! Believe it or not, it’s not a result of culture or tradition with many Italians being point-blank confused by the range. Italy’s olive oil production association, Assitol, said the drinks could “relaunch the image of olive oil, especially among young people”. They have also been promoting the addition of olive oil to cocktails. I’m not sure I’d be a fan of olive oil coffee, but I am certain that Italy’s olive oil marketing team is working overtime!
