As I was writing this, the waves of Kamala beach were crashing in front of me, and I was torn between abandoning Nexus, and keeping my job (just kidding… kind of!). The water was so clear, and the weather was finally nice and sunny. I could have been swimming that day (and getting knocked on my arse like I did one too many times), but instead I’m here because I love you <3

The new semester has started, woohoo! And because I love you so much, I won’t dwell on the impending doom on weekly reading and last-minute assignments. Instead, I’ll tell you all about my little holiday so that you have something to take your mind off all the stress that’s bound to set in soon. In late June, I left Hamilton to go to Phuket, Thailand with my brothers. We met up with my parents over there, and we had a hell of a time from day one. Here are all the things that were totally vibes:

  • It was raining for the first few days (which surprisingly hasn’t happened on every trip I’ve been on over there during this time), and every time, without fail, not a single one of us had an umbrella that the hotel provided. On one of the days, my mum and I swam in an empty pool while it was absolutely pissing down, and my dad said he heard thunder, so we got scared and left the pool because imagine your cause of death being that you were in a pool that was struck by lightning.
  • We got absolutely plastered one of the first nights and the next morning, I kid you not, I was still drunk. The world wasn’t necessarily spinning but my brain was funny and all I wanted to do was laugh.
  • We watched the Super Rugby final at an Aussie Bar on Bangla Road, and we sat on the side with all the Chiefs supporters. There was literally one guy on the other side of the bar supporting the Blues, and of course, he was the loudest. It was very quiet on our side.
  • The waves at the beach were very rough, and I got bitch-slapped more times than I can count. I nearly lost my bikini top at one point (thank God I decided to hold onto it), and when I was out the water, my mum and I would watch other people fall over and laugh because vibes.
  • I got ID’d one night. That’s never happened to me before in Thailand, and it didn’t happen any other night. I didn’t even have an ID on me, so my parents were looking for a copy of my passport on their phones lol. My dad did find it!
  • The very first time I wore a Maroons shirt, they lost -.-
  • I got three basketball jerseys; two Steph, and one Wemby. I’m not a hardcore NBA fan, but I enjoy watching the sport almost as much as I enjoy football (I’m totally lying because football>>>). I’ve made it my goal to be a Steph bandwagon because vibes.
  • At the last massage we had, I fell into such a deep sleep that I swear I started talking. The same thing happened on the plane ride back. You know when you sleep-talk, and you wake up and talk to test if it feels the same to see if you did sleep-talk? Yeah well, I did that. I still don’t have a clear answer on whether or not I did.
  • The last bar we went to has a collection of dollar notes from different countries. The owner even gave me one as a souvenir! They had post stamps too, and in one of the collections I saw a certain German leader that made me laugh because what was he in a tiny beach side bar in Thailand?
  • On our last morning, the rain was really bad and the power at the hotel kept cutting. We had washing to pick up, but everything was flooded, and we weren’t sure if we were going to get our washing or even get to the airport. Fortunately, we got our washing. Unfortunately, we were able to leave.

I don’t really have more to say. I hope you all enjoyed your time off uni, and that you’re all ready and geared up for this semester. I know you all TOTALLY missed Nexus, so I hope that we can provide some sort of comfort and fun for the rest of the year <3

[I started watching The Acolyte and the latest season of Demon Slayer. What I’ve seen of the former was alright, but the latter was fun. I’ve even finished Band of Brothers! Still not continuation of Naruto, Game of Thrones, and whatever else I was watching. I have seen a few random episodes of The Boys though! Jensen Ackles is so hot.]
