Slightly Stoned Chef – Issue 12
It’s time to wake and bake. This week’s pancake recipe is super easy and can be enjoyed with maple syrup and bacon or last night’s root.
Ingredients:
1 cup self raising flour
2 Tbsp white sugar
½ tsp finely grated lemon zest (optional)
1 cup milk (or soy/rice milk)
1 egg, lightly beaten
30g butter, melted
Method (slightly stoned):
- Sift the self raising flour and white sugar into a bowl. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients.
- Add the lemon zest, milk, egg and melted butter and whisk to combine.
- Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium low heat and grease lightly with butter or oil.
- For each pancake, place 2 tablespoons of batter into the pan. Cook for 2 minutes or until bubbles form on the surface.
- Turn and cook for a further 1 to 2 minutes or until the pancakes are cooked through. Garnish with berries, bananas and syrup.
Method (too stoned):
- “Bacon pancakes, makin’ bacon pancakes, take some bacon and I’ll put it in a pancake!”
- Take 2 Tbsp of white sugar. What the fuck is a Tbsp?
- Take an egg and beat it.
- “Just beeeaaat it, beeeaaat it! No one wants to be defeated.”
- Eggs go well with bacon. Melt butter. Add in bacon.
- Should I have added the eggs with the flour, and the sugar and the milk? Nah, fuck it.
- I don’t know how the fuck we got here but we’ve made an omelette. Bone apple teeth.
