Turbulent Times For The Crusaders

Crusaders’ prop Owen Franks faces a two-match ban following the Canterbury side’s fourth defeat of the season. Franks was shown a yellow card after cleaning out Hurricanes’ lock Justin Sangster, however this was upgraded to a red by the SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee last Monday.

Fans have witnessed a worrying start to the season as the eleven-time champions face unprecedented times. The Crusaders have not seen consecutive defeats like this since 1996, where they lost their first three games of the season; they had never lost four games in succession until this season.

Despite a lengthy list of injuries, head coach Rob Penney says that “It’s not ideal. But you don’t win the cup in the first four rounds.”

The 2024 season is looking rather dire for the Canterbury team, but perhaps we’ll see them make a comeback to victory.

United Advances in the FA Cup

Manchester United has advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals after a 4-3 victory against Liverpool in extra time. United will face Coventry City whilst last season’s treble-winners Manchester City play Chelsea.

A Manchester derby appears to be quite likely for the FA Cup final.

Premier League Predictions

The race for the Premier League title remains unclear as Arsenal (first, 64 points), Liverpool (second, 64 points), and Manchester City (third, 63 points) compete for victory. All three teams will face fourth place Aston Villa and fifth place Tottenham Hotspur- these games will likely be the deciding factors on who takes on the trophy.
