NSW Stuns QLD With Late Origin Victory

Last week, we witnessed a game scripted by the “Footy Gods”. It was a match filled with raw passion, strength, and heart. Leading up to the decider of the State of Origin, both Queensland and New South Wales had given their fans just a taste of their talent, however in this final run, their showcase of brute force and sheer strength provided an outstanding display of what a true Origin game is.

The first half ended with the Maroons ahead by 2, however an early penalty in the second half brought the score to 2-2. We can imagine that many were on the edge of their seats watching as the Maroons went up 4-2 later in the game, wondering whether this spectacular match would be a battle of kicking. Nevertheless, it was inevitable that one of these teams would slip- the only question was, who would blink first?

As the final whistle drew closer, it was the Blues who clung to victory with two stunning tries (followed by successful conversions). It would seem that Queensland had emptied the tank far too early, whereas New South Wales had prevailed with their almost superhuman capacity to dominate the remainder of the game.

This 14-4 victory for the Blues is a historic moment for both the team and their coach; it marks the first time in 19 years that they have won the deciding match at the Suncorp Stadium (Brisbane, QLD), and is a significant win for first-year coach Michael Maguire as his team has claimed their first Origin victory since 2021.

Southgate Departs the Three Lions

In 2016, Gareth Southgate was appointed manager of England’s national football team. In his time as manager, Southgate’s Three Lions side advanced to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals, the 2020 Euro final, the 2022 World Cup quarterfinals, and of course, this year’s Euro final. Before this Euros tournament, Southgate had been under harsh scrutiny by fans across the world for England’s inability to come home with a trophy. And while there were rumours that he would remain with the team for the 2026 World Cup, it was announced that he would depart from his position as manager. This news came following England’s 2-1 defeat in the Euro final against Spain last week.

At just 17 years old, Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal has broken records as the youngest player to feature at a UEFA European Championship. Yamal was 16 for most of the tournament, and celebrated his birthday just days before he held up the Euros trophy alongside his national team. Yamal ended the tournament with the top assists (4) and was awarded Young Player of the Tournament.

The question is asking if you’d rather take a gamble, or hopefully make it out of the woods unharmed. It demonstrates your perspective on how people are treated by men. Coincidentally, it’s also demonstrating how people construct stereotypes about men in one-on-one situations.

Regardless, I’m choosing bear. There’s a chance that if I tell the bear “No”, the bear would turn around and mind his business. Can’t say I’ve never told a man to “fuck off” only for him to make a 13 hour playlist about it, or spam message me, or tell me that I’ve ruined his night. Of course I have met some amazing men in my life, but the question is asking if I’d rather be alone with a RANDOM man who I don’t know. Nah. Bear. All the way.
