I initially considered and was asked whether I wanted to review this game as part of my Revealing Reviews column. Truth be told, there is nothing more satirical I can write than the actual game itself. A sequel to the original Tomodachi Life game released by Nintendo in 2013, is back and bigger and more insane than ever. Living the Dream allows users to create various Miis for their island and customise them to (nearly) their hearts content. An update compared to the original game is that it allows users to select a non binary gender and change sexual preferences (talk Valentina). There is also a custom face paint feature that allows you to draw on elements of a Mii’s face. While you start adding Mii’s alongside building your island, the amount you can eventually add is up to 70, which really is quite large. You have the opportunity to add whoever you want, currently on my island I have myself, my boyfriend, Miku Binder Thomas Jefferson and Genderfluid Alexander Hamilton (iykyk), the personification of AO3, Elphaba, Shrek, Pitbull, Sue Sylvester, Abraham Lincoln, and Handsome Squidward. While you can make your mii’s meet, and encourage or discourage them when you’re asked for advice, a large amount of the relationships in the game are down to chance. For me, sometimes this was frustrating as it took days to get my mii’s into a relationship despite them both having feelings for each other but I suppose this is realistic. Additionally, you can add items to the game and give characters catchphrases, so when I say the options are endless, they really are endless. All in all, this game has done a great job expanding on the original. It has options for endless creativity and fun, just maybe don’t play it in public.
