Noah Kahan’s new album The Great Divide has hit the top of the charts in 9 different countries, and it’s easy to see why. Kahan’s fourth studio album combines the folk atmosphere of previous albums with themes exploring what it means to leave behind the relationships and experiences you once knew, and the internal controversy that comes with it. In a somewhat unexpected twist, Noah Kahan released a deluxe version of the album The Great Divide: The Last of the Bugs just a day later, delighting fans that were already left yearning for more depressed neurodiverse autumn music. I have of course listened to every single song on the album so if you do for some reason need more convincing as to whether the songs are worth a listen I have given a single sentence review for each one below.

‘End of August’: Melancholy and grief softly playing in the forest vibes 4/5

‘Doors’: You will want to scream the chorus at the top of your lungs every chance you get 5/5

‘American Cars’: The vibes are immaculate and so are the instruments 5/5

‘Downfall’: Hayley Williams did a duet of this song with him so you know I’m biased 5/5

‘Lighthouse’: I don’t know whether to use this to softly drift to sleep or cry 4/5

‘Paid Time Off’: Inability to accept the passing of time with banjo and guitar what more could you want 4/5

‘Staying Still’: Another one where if you don’t scream this at the top of your lungs, I’ll assume you don’t have a soul 5/5

‘The Great Divide’: This was the first song released and it set the bar high 5/5

‘Haircut’: I scream, you scream, we all scream our way to therapy 5/5

‘Willing and Able’: Sad vibes and immaculate lyricism 4/5

‘Dashboard’: Who needs therapy when you have this song 5/5

‘23’: Such a good melody and the vocals are on point 5/5

‘Porch Light’: Noah I’m gonna need an extended version of this song 5/5

‘Deny Deny Deny’: Yes I have had this song on repeat, yes I am mentally stable why do you ask 5/5

‘Headed North’: This is getting an extra point purely for the anti-Cybertruck line 6/5

‘We Go Way Back’: Do we cry or do we vibe why not both 4/5

‘Spoiled’: I too do not want my future kids to relate to this album 5/5

All Them Horses- Maximum pain and maximum vibes 5/5

A Few of Your Own- Dancing and praising the banjo in this song 5/5

Orbiter- The loneliness of fame can in fact make a great song 4/5

Dan- Vibes- tick, banjo-tick, pain- tick, absolute banger of an end track- tick 5/5
