Released just last month on Prime Video, Sterling Point is an effortless teen drama that includes comedy, mystery, and one-too-many Camp Rock 2 references.
Born from the brain of Megan Park, an actress turned screenwriter, the tv show stands out against the current wave of Gen Z focused media due to its compelling plot and shockingly accurate dialogue. Unlike many similar shows, the script feels like it was written by someone of today’s younger generation, not just by an adult who claims to be “down with the kids”.
It follows Annie, alongside her dysfunctional family, as she discovers that she’s inherited a Canadian island from her estranged grandfather and travels there to seek information about the mum she never knew. Friendships are made, virginities are lost, and the secrets connected to her family are more complex than her 34-step skincare regimen.
Indeed, Sterling Point is witty, cool, and intensely relatable, and I would recommend it to anyone who can breathe.
