NEXUS POLITICAL VIRGINS

With the election coming up we are getting (more) political. Each week we will choose a policy topic and show you how each of the major parties (and ACT) view that policy. Then our panel of four political virgins who have either never voted or voted but were never that interested, give their opinion on which sounds best. 

We are going to cover the boring ones, education, tax, the environment and probably drugs but we want to hear from you. 

Which policy position would you like to see us do a deep dive on? 

NB: The term political virgins only applies to their politics… we think. We don’t actually ever want to know.

HAVE YOU VOTED? – No, as I wasn’t old enough last election. 

DO YOU KNOW WHO YOUR PARENTS VOTED FOR? – One voted for Labour and one voted for National, but I’m not sure which was which. 

What are the three biggest issues to you this election? – My biggest issue this election is that I haven’t involved myself with learning properly about New Zealand’s politics as much as I probably should have in order to form any kind of opinion for myself. I also haven’t been keeping track of much news to do with the current political events, and the thoughts that I do have on the topic are currently only based on negative news I’ve recently seen, such as the David Seymour problems in the last few months specifically. I also don’t think the process of the election is explained properly to people who haven’t voted before.

What are the three biggest issues to you this election? Three issues are changes in education, the role of Te Tiriti in law and policy, and general government performance and public trust.

What are the three biggest issues to you this election? 

Immigration jk 😉, no for real I think the biggest issues are: 

• Living cost, I remember this was a big part of the 2023 elections and during the years of the current government it has only been getting worse, come on guys Lockdown happen almost 6 years ago. 

• Business closing at alarming rates (R.I.P to EB Games) 

• Unemployment like is so crazy how hard is to get any kind of job nowadays, like what happen with having a summer job or having multiple part times.
