Chook and buns

  • You know the drill! This was every Mum’s favourite lazy dinner when you were a kid, and is actually not terrible. Get a couple of mates together, take this to a park, and throw a ball around and chat till the sun goes down.
  • Playlist: Positive summery nostalgic music is what we want here. ‘Time to Pretend’ by MGMT, ‘Wait a Minute’ by Willow, and ‘Walking on a Dream’ by Empire of the Sun are great options

Ingredients:

  • One roast chicken from the nearest supermarket. Double this recipe if you have lots of mates coming.
  • A six pack of buns fresh from the supermarket bakery. They have to be those small ones from the bakery section
  • Margarine. Butter is banned here.
  • Coleslaw from the supermarket deli. Get a medium container to be safe.

Method:

  • Collect all of your ingredients, as well as a knife and spoon, and take them to the park with as many mates as possible and a free rugby ball you got from a promotional event.
  • Cut bun almost in half (leave a little bit of bread as a hinge) and butter up each side.
  • Add coleslaw and chunks of chicken straight out of the bag as you see fit
  • Sit back, relax, and enjoy.
