Bisexuals and depressed 20-something-year-olds all found themselves at Spark Arena to join The Neighbourhood on their first show in Aotearoa. And the American alt-rock band did not disappoint.
The biggest let down of the night was the crowd, they just did not catch the vibe. You always get the popular songs sung the loudest, but it was crickets until ‘Sweater Weather’ and ‘Daddy Issues’ played.
The NBHD performed their hearts out, balancing the melo-drama of their ballads and upping the tempo with their energetic tracks. Somehow, the flowed from ‘Fallen Star’ to ‘Nervous’ to ‘Planet’ before finishing off the first act with ‘Devil’s Advocate’.
They played a great set but missed a few of my top picks, which is always a let down. But, all in all, the band was hot, the vibes were high, and my voice was gone.
