“She was a girl. She was also a girl. Can I make it any more obvious? Blind Date is back and we’re bringing the lesbians! (and the bisexuals no bi-erasure here).”
Person 1:
Before the date I was super nervous got ready hours before hand and kept checking my phone for the time. This resulted in me being there 20 minutes early, so I got a drink, and waited. When my blind date got there, we shared a quick hug and she sat down. We started talking but asked to be moved to an inside table as the sun was shining in my eyes, once inside she ordered a drink. We were talking practically all night whether it was about tv shows, movies, uni life or just random things in life. After a little while we both ordered a burger and got the loaded fires to share (definitely recommend). We ate our food and continued chatting, laughing, and we were there until about 08:45 pm, so just over 2 hours. Before we decided to end the night, we exchanged Instagrams, and I made sure that she would text me when she got home. Then as my friends were in town I met up with them and had a quick debrief and was very happy on how the date went. Overall, I believe the date went really well, we had a lot in common, and had a lot to laugh about. Since the date we have texted a few times and I do believe a second date could happen in the near future. I also want to give a quick shoutout to the Nexus team for making this happen, so thank you.
Person 2:
Blind dates are usually the kinda thing that makes you question every life decision that led you there. So yes, obviously I was quite nervous. Showing up, I had absolutely no idea what to expect, but the second we met, it was actually weirdly….easy?
We grabbed a drink, started talking, and suddenly we were just yapping. Like, full on professional-level yapping. No awkward silences, no painful small talk, no emergency escape plan needed, thankfully.
Honestly, Nexus’s blind date matchmakers might, lowkey, be onto something.
And yes, before anyone says anything, they did accidentally set me up with my best friend first. But hey, we don’t talk about that. It’s irrelevant. We move on. Totally normal blind date behaviour.
The whole date went by super smoothly, and it was genuinely just really nice. Overall? I’d say it was a success!
Massive thanks to House on Hood for keeping the Nexus Blind Dates out of the WSU Basement! We highly recommend taking any date of yours there – they do $8 Pizzas on Wednesdays.
