Editorial – 22/7

A lot has happened in the time between the release of our previous issue and this one. Football didn’t “come home”, Trump is talking about unity, and Daemon Targaryen had an explicit dream about his mum (?). Somehow, only one of these things surprises me (and it isn’t the last one). However, while I could go on about how terrible England was at the Euros, or about how the world still acts surprised when Targaryens dabble in a bit of Targ-cest, I won’t. Instead, here’s a list of things that made me realise that I have negative aura: 

• I live in Hamilton. 

• At 21, I still don’t know what I’m doing with my life. At 17, Lamine Yamal won the Euros. 

• At one point, my favourite JJK character was Megumi. 

• I have a TikTok folder with 627 saved K-Pop and anime edits? 

• I own three basketball jerseys, but I only started watching NBA at the start of this year (I still don’t know the rules). 

• I support Tottenham. 

• I’m 5’4” (I thought I was at least 5’5”). 

• I thought I needed glasses but was told that I just have weak eye muscles… or something idk. 

• My first (and only) tattoo is a brachiosaurus on a skateboard. 

• I nearly bought a Colleen Hoover book once (+1 aura for not buying it). 

• I’m scared of butterflies. 

Alternatively, here’s a list of things that may give me .5 aura: 

• Richie McCaw picked me up once (I was a short kid surrounded by adults trying to get his autograph after a game, and bro quite literally saved me). 

• I have a sword… and yeah, it’s a prop, but shut up. 

• I saw Bindi Irwin feed her first croc. I don’t know how this counts, but it does.  

• One of my old football teammates made her debut for the Matildas this year. In my head that means I wasn’t a completely terrible player back in the day.  

• I was born on the 23rd (of September, but that’s irrelevant). Who do you think of when you see 23? Michael Jordan. 

• I met Sally Pearson once (and got her signature… which I lost). 

I think it’s clear that I have zero aura. What is aura anyways?  

[I don’t have any updates about any tv series because I haven’t watched a single one lately. Well, there is this random NZ series called The Brokenwood Mysteries that comes on TVNZ that was quite entertaining, but I only watched one episode. Maybe you guys can give me some suggestions? Or instead, you can help a gal out and manifest that I’ll get Stray Kids tickets <3]
