Slightly Stoned Chef – Issue 12

It’s time to wake and bake. This week’s pancake recipe is super easy and can be enjoyed with maple syrup and bacon or last night’s root.

 

Ingredients:

1 cup self raising flour

2 Tbsp white sugar

½ tsp finely grated lemon zest (optional)

1 cup milk (or soy/rice milk)

1 egg, lightly beaten

30g butter, melted

 

Method (slightly stoned):

  1. Sift the self raising flour and white sugar into a bowl. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients. 
  2. Add the lemon zest, milk, egg and melted butter and whisk to combine. 
  3. Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium low heat and grease lightly with butter or oil.
  4. For each pancake, place 2 tablespoons of batter into the pan. Cook for 2 minutes or until bubbles form on the surface. 
  5. Turn and cook for a further 1 to 2 minutes or until the pancakes are cooked through. Garnish with berries, bananas and syrup.

 

Method (too stoned):

  1. “Bacon pancakes, makin’ bacon pancakes, take some bacon and I’ll put it in a pancake!”
  2. Take 2 Tbsp of white sugar. What the fuck is a Tbsp?
  3. Take an egg and beat it. 
  4. “Just beeeaaat it, beeeaaat it! No one wants to be defeated.”
  5. Eggs go well with bacon. Melt butter. Add in bacon. 
  6. Should I have added the eggs with the flour, and the sugar and the milk? Nah, fuck it. 
  7. I don’t know how the fuck we got here but we’ve made an omelette. Bone apple teeth.
